Body elongated. egg-shaped and considerably compressed.

Small cycloid scales grown thickly in skin.
Small teeth in laws and vomer; no teeth on palatine.
Body color dusky, sides of body spotted with black.
Mouth large; nostrils large.
Eyes comparatively small.
Live in deep waters of the continental shelt.
Do not swim in schools.
Eat small flshes and other small marine animals located by
means
of gustatory and olfactory senses.
Extent of migration narrow.
Swimming movement slow.
Found in the waters of central Japan, the south, western
parts of Kyushu and south Korea.
Caught by glll nets.
Bulbus olfactorius small and closely adhered to lobus
olfactorius which is egg-shaped and comparatively large.
Lobus inferior expanded laterally.
Cerebellum small.
Especially corpus cerebelli is observed as a T-shaped
projection.
