females: 21.2-23.6 mm (30 specimens)
males: 18.3-20.4 mm (30 specimens)
Description
Lower margin of carapace lacking lateral denticles. Female rostrum long, slender, curved, acute
at the end, and reaching distal margin of eyes. In
males, it is short and truncated. Length and
shape of rostrum varies widely in males as well
as in females. Dorsal keel extending over rostrum, frontal plate and gastric region. Eyes very
large, about 1/4 as high as broad, and transversally strangled in two lobes; upper lobe somewhat smaller than lower one. Antennular peduncle shorter and more robust in males than in females. Basal segment expanded on dorsal and
distal ends, turned slightly upward without
forming a lobe or conspicuous process. Laterodistal outer margin bearing prominent spine.
2nd and 3rd segments lacking spines or processes. Flagella short. Antennal scale narrow and extending beyond midpoint oflast antennular segment. Lateral spine of basiscerite poorly developed. Dactylus of 1st endopodite flat and bearing row of ca.11-15 setae on inner margin and 1
on dorsal margin. Propodus bearing row of 6 setae on dorsal margin, 5 setae on mid-dorsal side
and 2 on inner margin. 2nd endopodite very
elongated and frail, particularly the distal segments. Last 2 segments with bundle of bristles:
propodus bearing 2 and dactylus, which is very
short, bearing 8. 3rd to 6th endopodites small
and with normal number of segments (3 beyond
the knee). 7th endopodite bi-segmented in females and absent in males. Eight endopodite rudimentary in both sexes. 4th and 5th abdominal
segments each bearing low mid-dorsal keel ending in short spiniform process. Preanal spine
usually simple in males and bifurcated in females; this character may be variable. Distal portion of terminal process of petasma longer, thinner and curved in the middle, forming an obtuse
angle with proximal portion of process. External
edge fringed by row of denticles: proximal ones
smaller than distal ones. Proximal process shorter than terminal one and reaching as far as mid-
