Body length -
females: 11.6-13.2 mm (6 specimens)
males: 10.4-11.6 mm (4 specimens)
Description
Lower margin of carapace bearing !lateral denticle. Rostrum rather short. Frontal plate short,
triangular and as long as wide. Eyes large and
spherical. Basal segment of antennular peduncle
bearing triangular, pointed to rounded lobe of
variable size. Lobe about as long as wide, projected forward and slightly upturned. Third segment
bearing robust dorsal keel with straight or slightly curved upper margin along more than 1/2 its
length. Antennular scale extending beyond distal
margin of eyes. Abdominal segment lacking dorsai spine or processes on distal dorsal margins.
Preanal spine bearing 1 or 2 secondary spines,
which are larger in females than in males. Subterminal spines of telson bearing denticles on inner margins, giving them a serrated appearance.
Terminal process of petasma slender and usually
longer than median lobe.
Proximal heel rather developed; distal end bifurcated with slightly expanded inner ramus that
is longer and stouter than outer one.
Proximal process shorter and somewhat more
robust than terminal process and expanded, on
distal end, into 2 membranous leaf-like lappets
with fragile edges. These are arranged in different planes and provided with basal septae. Anterior lappet originating do ser to base of process
and bearing striations. It is shorter and with
more fragile edges than the posterior lappet. A
secondary spine originates just prior to the implantation of these membranous lappets. This
spine is robust, wide at the base and curved
downward. Lateral process stout at base and
bearing short and robust tooth on its strongly
curved distal end. Setiferous lobe bearing 4 plumose seate on distal end. Same lobe also bearing
flat, rounded lobe on distal inner side and earlike lobe near outer side. 2 finger-shaped prominences of the coxal plates are observed laterally.
Sternite divided into 2 fairly deep grooves by a
median ridge. Opening of pocket delimited at
si des of the 2 folds of the coxal plates; these are
more rounded in shape anteriorly (Guglielmo
and Costanzo, 1978).
