The objective of this paper is to present seasonal and annual values of the
components of total evaporation obtained from a biophysical process-based
model using satellite and assimilated data. Important distinctions between
the present results and previous estimates of global land surface evaporation
are:

Previous studies did not quantify the components of total evaporation,
Biological control on evaporation through leaf stomata was not
considered in previous studies,
Present calculations have been done for each months of two specific
years resulting in a 24 months long time series rather than average of
many years,
Except for precipitation, present calculations have been done using
spatially representative meteorological and surface data rather than
interpolated values, and
