The BODt-curve for mixed municipal and slaughterhouse wastewaters.
- Suspended easily degradable organic matter is found as the difference
between the total COD and the other fractions, that is,
Xs = Ccoo- Xr- SHAc- Ss- Sr
The concentration of bacteria, X a, may be calculated on the basis of respiration tests /16/, where the respiration at 20°C per kg bacteria in the wastewater may, for example, be estimated at 200 g Oz/h. The fraction of denitrifying bacteria may be determined by a parallel respiration test with nitrate
as the electron acceptor (respiration approx. 70 g N03-N I (kg bacteria · h)).
The concentration of bacteria may also be estimated by counting or AlP-measurements, dehydrogenase measurements, etc.
