Treatment Plants for Phosphorus Removal from Wastewater
Post precipitation may also cause problems in relation to suspended phosphorus.
One reason may be that the operation is not carried out at an optimum G value.
Apart from optimizing the turbulence conditions, organic polymer may be added
which enhances the mechanical strength of the floes, see Fig 10.17. Furthermore,
chemical sludge from the secondary settling tank may be recycled back to the
flocculation tank, see Fig 10.18, thus increasing the floc volume fraction .
