Since September 1999 we have made several trips along the river and vicinity.
During these trips, sample sites were identified and water samples were collected.
The field trips included meeting with the local water authorities, professionals,
consultants, and administrators. The trips to the west side of the river were
conducted together with the Israeli Nature Reserve Authority (INRA). On the
basis of this framework we have established a list of accessible sites (Fig. 2), all
coordinated with the military authority. The Jordanian team identified and selected
15 sites for representing eastern inflows and groundwater discharge to the river
system. A total of about 70 sites were chosen. As shown in Fig. 2, these sites
