• Support of every day management (follow-up)
• control board of current situation (contamination level of resources)
• common platform for dialogue between actors in case of conflict
• vulnerability and risk assessment and mapping
• identification of sources of observed pollutions
• information on possible approaches for problem solving
• centralized access to supervision and warning systems
• communication support for the media and public opinion
• technical support of emergency intervention (accidental pollution)
• Support of predictive management
• availability of pre-calibrated predictive models
• forecasting the trend of contamination evolution
• investigation, intercomparison and tests of remediation measures

5.3 Regulations and standards
A major objective of ISMAP has become the elaboration of appropriate and
reliable tools and methods in order to contribute to the definition of regulations
and standards at national and European levels.
Concerning analytical methods, the French partners are already involved in
working groups under AFNOR, the French Standards Institute.
Concerning predictive modeling and risk assessment, the application of models in
regulatory setting is current in the U.S. [2]. However, the selection of appropriate
modeling tools and especially their conditions of application requires in-depth
reflection. ISMAP partners are ready to address this question.
