DNA extracted from genetically abnormal tissue compares with that extracted from the normal tissue. A statistical treatment of this method has
been published (16).
Conclusions
Comparative genomic hybridization scans the genome of an organism for
relative changes in copy number. DNA from fresh frozen or from fixed and
paraffin embedded tissue can be utilized. DNA preparation, labeling, metaphase preparation, hybridization, and analysis are important steps for a
successful experiment. Expert and knowledgeable support for these procedures is important to obtain reproducible and accurate results.
