60 km northeast of the city of General Roca, between
the Colorado River and the Negro River, Rio Negro
Province, Argentina.
DISTRIBUTION: Buenos Aires, La Pampa, and
Rio Negro provinces, Argentina (Cesar, 1989).

DISTRIBUTION: from within 50 km of the
Pacific Ocean from Santa Barbara, California, USA
to Valle de las Palmas, Baja California, Mexico.

TYPE LOCALITY: a lake on the right bank of
the Zelenaja River, Kolyma district, Russia (67 oN,
162°E).
DISTRIBUTION: northern part of Jugor Peninsula, Vaigatch Island and southern island of Nowaya
Zemlya Archipelago, Lena Delta and bank of BuorKhaja Bay, Jana Delta, islands and coast of Jana Bay,
New Sibiri an Islands, lower part of Koljma River basin
(Vekhoff, 1990).
COMMENTS: described as type species of the
genus Artemiella, transferred to Branchinecta by Linder (1941); the relationship between this taxon and
B. tolli needs careful comparative study.
