2. Wash the explants several times with medium containing 2.5 mg/
100 ml phenylthiourea to prevent melanization.
3. Keep the culture at 34SC.
Results
According to Kaatz et al. (1985), protein synthesis was maintained in cultured fat bodies or ovaries. The rate of synthesis increased markedly when
the tracheal system of the organs was left intact and open to the air during incubation.

1. Aseptically dissect out the regenerating tissues.
