Cell migration may occur from the cut surface of the organs (Fig. 7). To
obtain sufficient migrated cells to make a subculture, a large number of
explants is required .

Organs that can be cultured using this method are usually the intestine
of aseptically reared insects, ovaries, testes, fat bodies, mycetomes, and
Malpighian tubes. A similar outgrowth of cells as that seen in embryonic
cell culture will be obtained.
