determine the position and the orientation of the “calanques”, these drowned valleys
which cannot be dissociated from the Marseilles landscape. At Cassis, for example, the two calanques near En-Vau and Port-Pin respectively follow these two main
directions. This structural determinism of the coastal landscapes (Fig. 5.11) is also
present underwater, particularly with regard to the position and the orientation of the
large vertiginous walls and their vertical landscapes (Fig. 5.12) so appreciated by
divers.
