that diurnal migration (VINOGRADOV and VORONINA, 1961) may play some part in the
vertical distribution in the upper strata (night Stn. 67/8), but this was not true of other
night stations (67/11) in the same area.
The area of the southern bank of the Swatch and that situated near Astola Island is
well known for its high fishery yield, a fact supported by present studies on zooplankton
abundance and environmental conditions.
