Species Composition and Macrobenthos Abundances
58 macrobenthic species were recorded during these studies in the tidal flats of the
Groninger Plate and the Dornumer Nacken (Table 5.5.1). Polychaetes contributed
the majority of the species (52 %), followed by crustacea (22 %) and molluscs
(19 %). The average species density at site GPI was 4 species per 100 cm 2 sediment. Diversity (gamma-index [0,31; Pfeifer et al. 1995) varied between 2.64 and
