amyloliquefacians with a molecular weight of 3398.9 Da composed of 32 amino
acids along with some non-amino-acid residues. The structure contains a posttranslational linkage between a thiol group and the alpha carbon of an amino acid residue. They do not contain lanthionine and methyl lanthionine residues. Subtilosin
shows strong antibacterial activity against Listeria monocytogenes even at high
temperatures and in a wide range of pH conditions. Subalancin 168 (3887.8 Da) is
a member of a group of glycosylated antimicrobial peptides called glycosins produced by B. subtilis 168. Sublancin contains two disulfide bridges and a single
lanthionine bridge. It shows antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, Streptococcus
pyogenes and Bacillus cereus.
