on the quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometer improves mass spectrometric de novo sequencing to a degree that it is absolutely conceivable that mass
spectrometry will become the method of choice for sensitive internal protein
sequencing.
Using the differential scanning technique on a triple quadrupole machine our
group worked on 47 proteins for de novo sequencing in the last eight months,
involving two investigators. 32 of them were identified in databases (including
EST databases), 10 were identified due to close homology and 3 proteins were
cloned from the data.
