during the time of the space flight, a prediction that has only recently been shown
to be incorrect (N. ARLEY, Naturwissenschaften 54, 366 (1967)). Is it not
actually the first time that anybody has been able to give a concrete chemical
explanation of organic time oscillations?
BETZ:
There are many observations on inorganic oscillatory systems. As I mentioned
in my lecture, fluctuations in NADH level have been observed independently
by CHANCE, DUYSENS, MATTHAEI and rediscovered by GHOSH in Dr. CHANCE'S
laboratory. It is in this laboratory that the work I have reported was actually
begun.
