Dredging Operations
The construction work for the 0resund Link involves dredging of approximately
7 million m 3 material from the seabed. The overall requirement states that the total
average spillage from dredging operations must not exceed 5% (Ministry of Transport
and Ministry of Environment and Energy 1995). The dredging and reclamation work is
divided into a number of sub-operations (Fig. 10.1). A dredging instruction and a spill
budget for the work have to be approved by the environmental authorities before each
sub-operation starts. The dredging instructions lay down the detailed guidelines for
the extraction work.
Fig. 10.1. Approved extraction areas as at 31 December 1996. Areas for individiual dredging instructions (Nr.1-9) are indicated by arrows. CDl , CD3-1 and CD4 show position of compensation dredging
areas. (Modified from 0resundskonsortiet 1997)
