contact with the fishery authorities and fishery organisations at an early stage. This
was done as an initial stage of the EIA process. The aim was both to inform about the
project, and to discuss and try to identify possible solutions which could be acceptable
also for the fishery interests.
From the outset strong opposition was expressed by fishery organisations and local
fishery authorities relating to the crossing of the shrimp trawling areas, but the early
dialogue was appreciated. Studies were initiated as a part of the EIA process and in
