Nourishment
In Chapter II, several methods of coastal protection will be discussed ; among
those, artificial nourishment is in front. However, such nourishment can be
accomplished according to several options. Profile nourishment is one such option
analyzed.
4 Coastal Erosion, a Worldwide Phenomenon
Coastal erosion is a world-wide occurrence principally along sea shores but
noticed also along many a lake shoreline. It has been reported in the literature for
several decades (e.g. Anonymous, 1957 ; Charlier 1955). It encompasses
considerable economic consequences, endangers for instance valuable properties.
