90 Sr of the total content of radionuclides in the water was in the hydrogensulphidous zone of the Black Sea.
The period of the cycle of
90 Sr and
137 Cs in the oxygen and hydrogen-sulphidous
zones of the Black Sea is about 14 and 94 years, respectively. In the latter case, this
value is three times the half-life of
90 Sr and
137 Cs, so the hydrogen-sulphidous zone
of the water column of the Black Sea can be seen as a depot for these radionuclides.
