(EOS) and several commercial enterprises are about to provide dramatically improved spatial and spectral resolution remote sensor data (e.g. NASA's Moderate
Resolution Imaging Spectrometer - MODIS, France's improved Spot Image, and
EOSAT Space Imaging's IKONOS (Asar et aI., 1996; Jensen et aI., 1998). Continually improving digital image processing software will hopefully be developed
to extract the required biophysical information from these data for hydrologic
applications.
