4 Conclusions
The study implies that the dense forest in Honnaver taluka sequester more carbon
and CO 2 mitigation potential of dense forest is 2.42 times more than agricultural
land. Dense forest helps to reduce concentration of CO 2 in the atmosphere. The
second best land use system to sequester more carbon in soil is spare forest followed by open land.
