The quantity and quality of water and land supplies, especially agricultural lands
in Turkey have already been affected by rapid population growth and industrialization,
as well as by changes in demands, technology, and socio-economic and legislative
conditions, as in the other developing countries. Thus, options for dealing with the
possible impacts ofthe climate change on water resources, drought and desertification
should include efficient management of existing water and land supplies, and
forecasting systems for droughts and monitoring of the desertification processes
including soil erosion and changes in vegetation formations and/or covers.
