This procedure can easily be extended to all conceivable combinations of
branched and linear polyspiro systems.
Hexaspiro [2.0.2.0.28.2.213.07.24.0.218.23] icosane
In spiro compounds containing at least one fused or bridged (von Baeyer)
hydrocarbon system the specifier spiro is followed, enclosed in square
brackets, by the names of the components including their individual numberings. Spiro positions are again given the lowest possible locants and
placed between the component names.
Spiro [cyclopropane-l ,9' -fluorene]
Spiro[fluorene-9,1' -indene]

For more complex systems, particularly those involving manifest or latent
indicated hydrogen(s), some very specific naming procedures are in use
which are only vaguely hinted at in the codified IUPAC rules. Since they are
in fact applied more or less consistently in the Ring Index and by Chemical Abstracts a brief illustration is given here.
If a partial structure appearing in a spiro compound already posseses
an indicated hydrogen, this hydrogen is placed directly in front of the component name, preceded by its locant and enclosed in square breckets, if
necessary. If, however, spiro junction is only possible after a formal dihy-
