Annexes
portrayal specification
collection of operations applied to the feature instance to portray it (lS049 2002)
positional accuracy
closeness of coordinate value to the true or accepted value in a specified reference
system (IS048 2002)
NOTE
The phrase "absolute accuracy" is sometimes used for this concept
to distinguish it ftom relative positional accuracy. Where the true coordinate value
may not be perfectly known, accuracy is normally tested by comparison to available
values that can best be accepted as true.
positioning system
system of instrumental and computational components for determining position
(lS048 2002)
NOTE
Examples include inertial, integrated, linear, optical, and satellite
positioning systems.
precision
measure of the repeatability of a set of measurements (lS048 2002)
NOTE
Precision is usually expressed as a statistical value based upon a set
of repeated measurements such as the standard deviation from the sampie mean.
preferred term
term rated according to the scale of the term acceptability rating as the primary term
for a given concept (I SOl 0 2000, IS036 2002)
prime meridian (zero meridian)
meridian ftom which the longitudes of other meridians are quantified (lS043 2003)
product specification
description of the uni verse of discourse and a specification for mapping the universe
of discourse to a dataset (lS045 2002)
profile
set of one or more base standards and - where applicable - the identification of
chosen clauses, classes, options, and parameters of those base standards that are necessary for accomplishing a particular function (ISOIEC21 1998, IS034 2002)
NOTE
A base standard is any ISO 19100 series standard or other Information Technology standard that can be used as a source for components from which a
profile or product specification may be constructed
projected coordinate system
two-dimensional coordinate system resulting ftom a map projection (lS043 2003)
quality
