Annex A: Terms and definitions ofthe ISO 19100 standards
249
metadata schema
conceptual schema describing metadata (lS034 2002)
NOTE
ISO 19115 describes a standard for a metadata schema.
metadata section
sub set of metadata which consists of a collection of related metadata entities and
metadata elements (lS047 2003)
model
abstraction of some aspects of a universe of discourse (lS047 2003)
abstraction of some aspects of reality (lS041 2002)
module
predefined set of elements in a base standard that may be used to construct a profile
(lS0522001)
month
period approximately equal in duration to the periodic time of a lunar cycle (lS040
2002)
NOTE
The duration of a month is an integer number of days. The number
of days in a month is determined by the rules ofthe particular calendar.
motion
change in the position of an object over time, represented by change of coordinate
values with respect to a particular reference frame (lS048 2002)
EXAMPLE
This may be motion of the position sensor mounted on a vehicle or
other platform or motion of an object being tracked by a positioning system.
neighbourhood
geometrie set containing a specified direct position in its interior, and containing all
direct positions within a specified distance of the specified direct position (lS039
2003)
node
O-dimensional topological primitive (lS039 2003)
NOTE
The boundary of anode is the empty set.
non-conformance
failure to fulfil one or more requirements specified (lS037 2000)
northing (N)
distance in a coordinate system, northwards (positive) or southwards (negative) from
an east-west reference line (lS043 2003)
object
