directed solid
directed topological object that represents an association between a topologie al solid
and one of its orientations (1S039 2003)
NOTE
Directed so lids are used in the coboundary relation to maintain the
spatial association between face and topologie al solid. The orientation of asolid is
with respect to a face, "+" if the upNormal is outward, "-" if inward. This is consistent with the concept of "up = outward" for a surface bounding asolid.
directed topological object
topologie al object that represents a logical association between a topologie al primitive and one of its orientations (IS039 2003)
domain
well-defined set (lS035 2001)
NOTE
Domains are used to define the domain and range of operators and
functions.
easting (E)
distance in a coordinate system, eastwards (positive) or westwards (negative) from a
north-south reference line (lS043 2003)
edge
I-dimensional topological primitive (IS039 2003)
NOTE
The geometrie realization of an edge is a curve. The boundary of
an edge is the set of one or two nodes associated to the edge within a topological
complex.
edge-node graph
graph embedded within a topological complex composed of all of the edges and
connected nodes within that complex (IS039 2003)
NOTE
The edge-node graph is a subcomplex of the complex within which
it is embedded.
ellipsoid
surface formed by the rotation of an ellipse about a main axis (IS043 2003)
NOTE
In ISO 19111, ellipsoids are always oblate, meaning that the axis
of rotation is always the minor axis.
NOTE
Only used as part of a three-dimensional geodetic coordinate system and never on its own.
ellipsoidal co ordinate system
coordinate system in which position is specified by geodetic latitude, geodetic longitude and (in the three-dimensional case) ellipsoidal height (lS043 2003)
geodetic datum
datum describing the relationship ofa coordinate system to the Earth (IS043 2003)
