Common name: Freshwater edible crab.
Distribution: Sri Lanka and southern
India (Bahir and Yeo, 2007).
Habitat: From the bank of shallow
(<30 cm), slow-flowing, rocky streams.
Description: Dorsal surface of the carapace is highly convex. Anterior lateral
carapace is low in the frontal view.
Epistomal median lobe has  distinct,
sharp, pointed tooth. Frontal margin is
bilobed in the dorsal view. Epibranchial
tooth is moderate in size and sharp.
Post-orbital region is concave. Postorbital cristae are sharp and almost
straight to curved. Branchial region is
gently inflated. Male abdomen is triangular, with concave lateral borders.
Segment 6 is trapezoidal, wider than
long, and slightly longer than the telson, and has distinctly concave lateral
borders, which form an hourglass
shape (Bahir and Yeo, 2007).
