in muscle, which represents a tissue whose Hg absorption/retention is much
more dependent on the metabolic rate and thus subject to frequent changes,
were much higher than in the above mentioned brain and endocrine tissues,
typical "hot spots" of Hg retention in man. The reasons for this discrepancy are
still unknown and should be physiologically assessed by a separate study. Liver
