In the storage area the highly contaminated fill material [5390 pg Hg(total)/l in
the eluate I contained only 13% mercury in an organic complex form. Remarkable
is the high fraction of Hgo. In the underlying loess, the ratio changes in the case
of low eluate contents in favour of the water-soluble organic complexed Hg
fraction. In the relatively minor contaminated sand/gravel sediments only the
