Abstract
The sudden rise of the sea level is a phenomenon that differs from contemporary
elevation of the sea level resulting from a combination of natural factors in the current
context of climate change. If the first is visible in the short term (from a few hours to
a few days), the second requires dozens of years for his evidence.
To understand the phenomenon of the sudden rise of the sea level reaching thresholds
of approximately 2m (case of the port of El Djamila in 2010),we privileged a
methodology based on the processing of the signal, in order to examine the signals
from the sea level spread over three years (2011, 2012, 2013). And measured by the
digital tide gauge installed at the harbor of Algiers. Thus, we applied two methods;
the Welch method and digital filtering, which, respectively, to estimate the different
energy frequencies contained in the raw signal,and separate the various marine waves
Confused in the sea-level signal.
The results of the power spectral density report the presence of the frequency peaks
that belong to the waves of the tsunamis and the meteotsunamis.
In addition, operated on the tide signal filters have allowed both to characterize the
type of the tide of our area, than the isolation of marine waves that had induced the
sudden rise of the sea level.
