Abstract:
The aim of this work is to study the impact of certain physicochemical parameters
(temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, MES and chlorophyll a) on the growth of the Mytilus
galloprovincialis Mussel harvested in the shellfish farm SAML EAM in Aïn -tagourait wilaya
of Tipaza.
The results of the analysis of the physicochemical parameters of water allowed us to show
seasonal fluctuations of these parameters, MES values, nutrient salts in the standard and a
number of micro algae have toxic potential observed; some might explain the bloom appeared
within a month of sampling.
On the sampled mussel populations of cage sites from February to July, for which the age of
the individuals should be similar (same needs), we presented: 1) the relationship between the
different measures of height and weight (influenced by "nutritional regime" discharges and
the hydrodynamism experienced by the local population) and certain parameters such as
salinity and temperature; 2) condition indices (reflecting a given degree of sexual maturity
and / or physiological state), taking into account that significant differences could be due to a
different gene pool between individuals and seasonal fluctuation (thermal, and osmotic)
phytoplankton toxic and non-toxic populations.
