Common, golden and mirror carp were reared in concrete ponds of 225—575 m in
area and 1.5—2.0 m deep_in Basrah, Iraq. Big fingerlings ranged in weight
from 34.0 to 52.2 g and small fingerlings
weight were used
study. The farm was fed with fresh water côming from a side branch
canal of Shatt Al—Arab river by pumping. The flOw raté was not constant. It
from a high rate of 10—12 litres per minute When high water tèmperatu—

inflow in our concrete ponds, two types of supplemetary fOOd were used. They
consist mainly of soyabean cake, ground harley, wheat

meal, corn grain, calcium phosphate and
were fed six
days a week at the rate of 5% of
during sumer and 32 during
winter. The survival rate was high (averaged 99.82)pduridg
period. Very few mortalities occurred among
fingërling$

(11.12) and mirror (5.9Z) carp. Seasonal variatiôns"Of'growth in length and
