Cyprinus çarpio, Ibis new anaesthetic was ]
compared to MS—222 by assessing the degree of stress each caused,
and'_secondary stress effects WereehareCterized by
the»1evels of
plasma adrenalin and noradrenalin, blood
plasma Ca + and
trations and haematocrit, haemoglobin and leucocrit values, as well as the
activity of transaminases (GOT, CPT) in the plasma. The general effects of,
handling stress during propagation were reflected by significant
cemia, decreasing Ca2+ and Cl” concentrations as well as by a significant_
increase of plasma transaminase activity in the controls. Both anaesthetics
decreased handling stress; though some side effects.of
:
increased cathecbolamine, Ca2+, 1eucocrit and GPT levels… No difference
found between the experimental control groups as to number of stripped eggs
and % fertilization.
