Abstract
The work presented in the framework of this thesis concerns the study of the land-sea
interaction on the Algerian coast, which is based on the estuaries of the large wadis, located in
the North of Algeria.
On the one hand, this study is based on the coastal morphology, which is presented by the
digitization of the end of the mouths of the wadis from the east to the west of Algeria and their
evolution along the coast between the years 2000 and 2021.
On the other hand, it concerns the study of the physico-chemical parameters (MES, T °, S, OD,
and PH) and the granulometric analysis of the Mazafran wadi (the bay of Bou-Ismail, Wilaya
of Tipaza) as a case study between winter and summer.
The preliminary results of the parameters obtained show that the mouth water is generally of
poor quality. However, they can be subject to point organic pollution. Wastewater discharges
from the riparian population and the leaching of agricultural land during the high water period
are the main sources of organic contamination of water.
Particle size analysis showed that these sands are coarse sands, fairly well classified according
to the classification index, exhibiting particle size asymmetry towards large sizes according to
the skewness results. As well as the sediment comes from a continental type environment (of
terrigenous origin).
The results obtained from the digitalization show that the evolution of estuaries at the level of
the coast can be of hydrodynamic, climatic or sedimentological origin.
