14.5 Ground Test System
The ground test system was the support system for the electric in different development phases, environment tests and tests at launch site of the lunar lander, which
could not only implement the power supply and command control of the lunar lander,
as well as collection, processing, display and interpretation of downlink data, but also
meet the requirements for remote testing and joint testing. Reliable, universal equipment hardware configuration and test software were applied in ground test system.
In the design and development of ground test system, there were the design of power
supply relationship, information flow, the composition and verification of ground
test equipment [6].
14.5.1 Ground Power Supply
In the test of earlier deep space probes, DC voltage stabilized power supply and solar
cell simulator were applied. Up to date, only solar cell simulator could be applied
for the lunar lander. The lunar lander was powered and charged by solar cell simulator through the umbilical connector, as well as wired command transmission and
parameter collection function by ground equipment. The power supply relationship
between the lunar lander and the ground equipment is shown in Fig. 14.3.
The following four aspects should be considered in design.
(1) Safety design. Measures such as isolation and protection to ensure safety of
the lunar lander and onboard instruments should be applied. When the ground
equipment was short circuit, control failure and so on, it should not cause
damage to on board instruments.
(2) Electric power requirement. The ground power supply equipment should
provide enough energy for the lunar lander that met the requirements of its
maximum operation mode. It could simulate the performance of solar cell
while the loss of long cable transmission should be considered.
(3) Automation. In order to meet the requirements of automatic test, the test
equipment should have the program-controlled interface. Through the automation test software, it could implement unified distribution control of power
supply, wired command transmission, wired parameter acquisition and storage
function, and respond to the setting command of OCOE.
(4) Self-check. A power controller simulator of the lunar lander could provide selfcheck function for ground equipment, so that the operation status of ground
equipment could be examined quickly and accurately after preparation of
equipment and cable.
