Compared to the lunar lander without energy share, the major change in power
system of the Chang’E-3 lunar lander was reflected in the power controller with
additional control circuit for power share switch.
During launch and powered descent, the battery pack of the lunar rover could
supply power to the main bus of the lunar lander. During launch and illumination on
lunar surface, the battery pack of the lunar rover was charged by the solar array of
the lunar lander.
1. The Battery Pack of the Lunar Rover Supplied Power to the Lunar Lander
When the battery pack of the lunar rover supplied power to the power main bus of
the lunar lander, because the power controller of the lunar rover was not powered on,
when the discharge switch was closed, the battery pack would charge high current
to main bus capacitors. In order to avoid the electric current impact, the charging
circuit in the power controller of the lunar lander was used to charge the main bus
capacitor ahead by the electric current limited characteristics.
2. The Battery Pack of the Lunar Rover Was Charged by the Lunar Lander
After the lunar lander and the lunar rover were powered jointly, the battery pack of
the lunar rover should be charged by the lunar lander. Timing and the control process
were similar to the process of the lunar lander powered by the battery pack of the
