5.6.4 Two-Phase Fluid Loop Test
The two-phase fluid loop introduced heat of RHUs into the lunar lander during lunar
night, whose heat transfer capability was a key parameter. During development of
the lunar lander, operation characteristics and mechanical environment adaptability
of the two-phase fluid loop were verified in thermal balance test and mechanical test
of the lunar lander. The focuses were the heat transfer capability test under different
temperature conditions and the data obtained were also utilized in correction of
the heat transfer model of the two phase fluid loop when the key technology was
developed.
1. Test Objectives
The heat transfer performance tests of the two phase fluid loop were conducted when
the key technology was developed and verified. The major objectives are as follows:
(1) To examine thermal resistance and heat transfer capacity of the two-phase fluid
loop under different temperature levels;
(2) To provide experimental data for correction of theoretical model of the twophase fluid loop.
2. Simulation Method of Driving Force
Heat transfer capacity of the two-phase fluid loop was up to the driving force and
flow resistance. When the lunar lander was landed on the Moon, the driving force
was the lunar surface gravity (average gravitational acceleration 1.62 m/s
2 ), while it
