SuperTIGER was funded by the Astrophysics Division of the Science Mission
Directorate at NASA Headquarters. The NSF Office of Polar Programs manages
the U.S. Antarctic Program, and provides logistic support for all U.S. scientific
operations in Antarctica. NSF’s Antarctic support contractor supports the launch
and recovery operations for the NASA Balloon Program in Antarctica. The data
were downloaded using the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System.

7.4 INSTRUMENT AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
Ballooning enables state of the art instruments to achieve cutting-edge science
discoveries in a rapid turnaround environment. These investigations also play
important roles in training experimental space scientists and engineers, and in
developing new instruments for future spaceflight.
7.4.1 Balloon-Borne Instruments
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center supports the instrument requirements for a
variety of science disciplines, including:
