Raven Aerostar’s Tethered Aerostat Systems can be tailored to address mission
requirements and provide situational awareness while operating in challenging
environments. They serve dynamic defense and commercial applications for a
variety of payloads at diverse altitudes.
5.4.8 Parachutes
Raven Aerostar’s payload recovery parachutes have proven themselves reliable on
thousands of flights conducted by NASA, Google/Loon, government entities, and
other space agencies around the world. The chutes are specially designed to
recover payloads from as high as 48.8 km (160,000 ft). At 3,628 kg (8,000 lb) a
Raven Aerostar parachutes holds the record for the heaviest payload recovered
from a stratospheric balloon flight.
5.4.9 Tracking
Raven Radar Systems increase persistent surveillance capabilities and enhance
total situational awareness. These radar systems are designed and optimized to
track targets in difficult radar clutter conditions over land, ocean, and air for a
diverse range of defense, security, intelligence, and safety applications. Using
advanced algorithms, Raven Radar Systems provide early detection of defined
targets and movement at long ranges with extremely low false alarms. HiPointer
and Vista Radar Systems can be controlled remotely and operate from a diverse set
of platforms including towers, vehicles, ships, unmanned aerial vehicles, and
aerostats.
