The Impact of Climate Change
Komiyama Please explain for us the three Zero CO 2 challenges and three Plus
challenges you tout in Environmental Challenge 2050.
Uchiyamada The Zero challenges begin with achieving zero CO 2 emissions for
new cards. To be precise, it calls for a 90% reduction of CO 2 emissions by 2050
compared to 2010. The next one sets the goal of reducing to zero the CO 2 emissions
throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle from production to disposal. The third challenge
will have a particularly big impact for us and that is to reduce to zero the CO 2 emissions from vehicle manufacturing. This is all an attempt to manufacture vehicles
with zero CO 2 emissions, and bring them close to zero when driving as well.
