Acknowledgments
The editors wish to express their appreciation to the organizations and individuals
who contributed valuable perspectives, ideas, and support throughout the course of
this book’s development. The book has its origins in the Climate-Eval Community
of Practice hosted by the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the Global
Environment Facility (GEF) who organized the Second International Conference
on Evaluating Climate Change and Development, in November 2014 in
Washington, D.C. The Climate-Eval CoP and the conference were generously
supported by the governments of Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. Their contributions are noted with gratitude. We would also like to thank the Climate-Eval
partners, the IEO of GEF, the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), the International Program Evaluation Network (IPEN), and SEA Change, an Asian community of practice for the monitoring and evaluation of climate change
interventions.
A number of experts and professional colleagues provided their support to the
book by reviewing the manuscript and individual chapters at critical times: Dennis
Bours, Carlo Carugi, Megan Kennedy-Chouane, Howard Stewart, Anna Viggh, and
Molly Watts. The chapter contributors also kindly cross-reviewed each other’s
manuscripts during the preparation of the book. We would like to thank all of
them for their valuable contributions. Juan Portillo and his team in the IEO of GEF
provided important administrative support throughout the process.
We would specifically like to thank Lee Cando-Noordhuizen who acted as the
assistant editor, keeping track of all details and ensuring that the book project was
proceeding on schedule. Her professionalism and attention to detail were
indispensable.
