contact with the inner tank wall. In this way, the acoustic signals from the inner tank
can be transmitted to the sensor coupled on the waveguide rod disc. Figure 30.3 is
the photo of a sensor, a waveguide rod and an instrumentation nozzle which have
been installed together.
In order to test the acoustic attenuation of the waveguide rod itself, the pencil core
(2H, ϕ0.3 mm) breaking signals are emitted at different positions of the waveguide
rod. The signals are received by the sensor installed on the waveguide rod disc. The
test results are shown in Table 30.1. The results show that the acoustic attenuation
of the waveguide rod is small, so it can satisfy the AE testing.
In order to test the acoustic wave conduction effect of the coupling between the
waveguide rod and the inner tank wall, lightly tap the disc of each waveguide rod
