Hitotuyanagi’s group solved the magnetohydrodynamic equations of gas flow, and
as a result, they showed that gas flows out in parallel with a bar or forming curved
patterns. After arriving at the end of the bar, the gas causes the subsequent formation
of trailing spiral arms from both ends of the bar. Based on this model, they
considered in depth the dynamical structure of barred galaxies.
