A PCV system is a one-way pressure-sensitive passage that permits natural
build-up of gases to escape from crank case in a controlled manner.
A DPF is used to eliminate diesel PM from the exhaust gas generated in a diesel
engine. Adsorption system in the form of activated carbon in canister is used to
adsorb vapours from the carburettors bowl and fuel tank. Limited emissions of NO x ,
CO x and hydrocarbon can be attained from spark ignition car engines using catalytic
systems. Apart from the above conventional methods, change in technology due to
better understanding and new inventions has led new evolution of engines with
lower emission. Further to improve the performance besides the emission properties, additives are added to gasoline (petrol).
Construction activity is accompanied by numerous air pollution sources. Air pollution control during construction activity includes:
• Wetting the construction material
• Using a wet saw
• Using dustless saw technology
• Containing source of dust (Fig. 6.6)
• Installing wind fencing or a fence filter (Fig. 6.7)
• Using a vacuum attachment when cutting
