RQ 3: Which out of the six independent variables (PE, EE,
FC, SI, HM, and H) delivers the most significant contribution to instructors’ behavioral intentions to adopt an LMS at
HEIs?
RQ 4: To what extent (if any) do moderating variables,
moderate the relationship between the dependent and independent variables?
5.10 Toward a Theoretical Framework
The development of the proposed model is based on the
literature on technology adoption models, the UTAUT
model by Venkatesh et al. (2003) and the UTAUT2 model
by Venkatesh et al. (2012). The proposed model is shown in
Fig. 5.14. The new variables in the proposed model are
highlighted as bold type.
5.11 Summary
The study has developed a conceptual framework by
adapting the UTAUT2 model by the inclusion of ‘Hofstede’s
cultural dimension’ as moderators in the cultural context
HEIs. We extended the UTAUT2 model with ‘technology
awareness’ and ‘Hofstede’s cultural dimensions’ as moderating variables of the UTAUT2 model. Finally, this study
examined the adequacy of the original UTAUT2 model in
higher educational institutions.
