4 Fiber Testing
4.1 Identification of Fiber by Microscopic Appearance,
Burning and Solubility
Microscopic appearance.
Longitudinal view: It was observed that single unit was smooth and fine under 10×
magnification, as shown in Fig. 6a, and the bundle has a wavy structure. Several
individual fibers are conglutinated together into one bundle under 5×, 10× and 45×
, as shown in Fig. 6b.
Cross-sectional view: The cross-section of the lotus fiber was observed by scanning electron microscope in magnification 50×, 100×, 150×, 200×, 300×, 400×,
