ments to floors. Bernardi and Anjos (2013) present a MILO formulation for the
assignment of departments to floors as the first stage of a two-stage approach for
MF-FLP.
The evacuation application of the MF-FLP was formulated as a GQAP in Hahn
et al (2010), where it is called the multi-story assignment problem. We chose to use
the term multi-floor to be consistent with the terminology of this book.
For more on dynamic FLP, we suggest Lahmar and Benjaafar (2005) and Zhu
et al (2018). The factors affecting the connectivity costs (or material flows) are
discussed in Shore and Tompkins (1980). Many authors have considered the QAP
model for DFLP, for instance Ulutas and Islier (2015). A MILO formulation can be
found in McKendall and Hakobyan (2010): the departments have fixed dimensions
but are allowed to rotate.
